I'm a Huge UFC fan and I try and watch all the UFC I can get. If you never have caught an episode of The Contender and you like boxing, they just started a new season. I watched a fight last night between these two guys Bravo & Cisnernos and I can't remeber the last time I saw such a good fight with so much intensity. It was so good, that the replay was on again tonight and I watched it over. These two never, ever stopped throwing a punch through the entire five rounds, unbeliveable. I have had an itch myself and made a last minute decision to go to a Tournament last night, so I packed up my gear and took off on the bike this morning. I finally did it, the Kata Gods shown down on me and I broke that second place curse that has been haunting me the past three tournaments and took first in Forms. I took second in sparring, wasn't real up on it today, I think I was distracted from my opponent's PINK head and hand gear. And of course she went down, but that was from her trying to do some fancy ass spinning back kick that only resulted in me catching her with a backfist to the side of her head first and down she went. But there were some bad calls, they were giving points for things they shouldn't and missing points for things they should have. I'm a gracious loser, but... when you get points for kicking someones arm that is blocking a target area, that's when I get a little disgusted. But I accepted my second place and shook her pink gloves and congratulated her.If you keep up on the news, you'll know that we were hit with some very bad storms here in STL and the surrounding area with over 500,000 people without power during the hottest days of this summer so far with temps over 100 and heat index' near 125. As of today there are still thousands without power. Somehow we managed to keep our power, we're usually the first to loose it, but everyone else around has been out for over four days. I made my way down the road to offer water to the other horse owners in the area and whatever else I could to help. The storm took down half of a huge tree next to our garage and instead of dropping on my truck, it fell on the half of the garage where I stall Cruella and Hammer. I went through the opposite door and didn't see any structural damage, but I wasn't taking any chances and I moved them both. The OM got the chain saw out this morning and got it off the roof anyway, not to much damage that we can't fix ourselves, just a face board, gutter and a few shingles. minor compared to what it could have been. I haven't been able to work out at the dojo this week because of the power outage, but we only suffered a cracked window there and of course, no power. The Sturgis countdown has begun. Guess it's old age, but damn, the year went by fast, remember how long summer used to be when you were a kid? Do to some changes in plans, I will be out there this year for the entire duration. I had cut it back to four days because of the expense, but some things fell into place and I found a couch to sleep on at a friends house for the extra days this year. Have a great week, CG

I've been getting some miles on. I rode the bagger to Chicago last weekend for the bike show and swapmeet with a couple of my sister's. We had a great time in Chicago as always. On the ride home, we stopped off at a diner for lunch and halfway through our dinner, the waitress informed us that "Mr. Taylor" had bought our lunch, he was sitting behind us, but he did this and left before we knew it, so I'd like to say thankyou now. I've been busting my butt at the DoJo trying to get back in shape, it used to be nothing for me to crank out 50 knuckle pushup's, yesterday was my first attempt in almost two years, I did five. Next week I'll shoot for six and hopefully I'll be back there soon. I worked on the tan today, did some mowing, than hopped on the tractor and bladed the roads and than went out to do some work on cruella. I had to adjust her cluthch and change her tranny fluid, than bathe her and she looked so damn good after her bath, I took her out for a spin about 7:30 tonight, it was still close to 90 outside. I rode into town and stopped for a couple of beers and that's all I had, two. It just feels so good when she is purring purrfectly. The bagger is pretty much parked now except for out of town runs, Cruella gives me such a sense of pride, I just love her.have a great weekend, don't forget the sunscreen and water, CG

MY KIDS
Kind of an uneventful 4th of July. I did manage to get a short ride in this afternoon over to TJ's for a bite to eat. I came home an threw on the swimsuit and hit the Craftsman for a few hours of mowing. got that done pretty quick since we are dry here and the grass is starting to burn out. Than I did another pass on the tractor up around the barn area with the brushhog before putting it up for the summer.By the time I was done with that, I was pretty scruffy, but I just couldn't quit without weeding first. Than off to the shower and a bite to eat and I made the mistake of going back outside and I grabbed the hedge trimmer and did the bushs's. Enough of that, I grabbed a beer and headed out to the deck. Who need's to go to the city for fireworks when you live in the firework's capitol the world? The dog's and I sat out on the deck and watched the firework's from around the valley.I am truely blessed to live where I do, I wouldn't change it for anything. As I sat there watching the firework's and reflected on the day, I heard it coming across the the pasture. It's a very unique sound and I knew as it got closer it was just what we neeeded, RAIN! I know the folk's out east are going through some very hard times right now with all the flooding and I feel for them, been there, remember the flood of '93? hopefully it will continue through the night and we'll get a good soaker. grabbed this shot of nikki and my newest addition, Dora, the Kitten from hell. She actually scratched my other cat Libby so bad in the eye, that Lib has been to the vet twice this week and it lok's like she is going to loose the sight in that eye.I know she look's so sweet there cuddled up next to Nikki, but she is flat out mean!have a great week, CG

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY
What a way to start out the weekend. Up at 6:00am, out the door at 6:30 to go feed and do chores. One of my older horse's is having some problems with one of her hooves, so I had to wash and dress and bandage that up and muck the stalls before I could go anywhere. That done, it was time for more coffee and a shower and take care of the critters at the house. I asked the OM to go with me on a ride today since all the sister's were either with their familes or working, so we headed out around 9:30 and headed south. I'm trying out a few different routes for the Daredevil ride this year, so i grabbed a state Map and we headed out. We loaded up on the sunscreen before we left, when the weather man says it's going to be 98 in St. Louis, it'll be 100+ down here. we didn't even get a mile from the house and I was out front on the two lane twisty and huge buck ran right out in front of me, that wouldn't be the only deer to cross my path today. not only deer, but cars, trucks, horse trailers, trucks with boat's, I swear, I just kept missing them or they just kept missing me, always a good move to have a word with the man upstairs before you head out, especially on a busy Holiday weekend and I was glad I did because someone was sure watching over me today. We rode over to Taum Sauk MT and than down to Ellington, than over past Owl's Bend to Eminence, than down to Hwy 60 and ran that to Poplar Bluff and headed north on 67 and stopped off at Cherokee Pass, one of my favorite restaurants down that way and had a bite to eat, Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Yum-Yum! By the time we got home, we were hot and spent, but after a 10 minute break it was up to the barn to bring in the horses and wash them all down, they were hot and sweaty and they love a cold shower on these hot days. By the time I got in the house, I was ready for a cold shower myself. I had a great day regardless of the heat. I inserted a picture from the lookout tower at Taum sauk, but they had the upper deck closed off today, so i couldn't go all the way up. Have a great weekend, CG

GREEN ACRES
I can't seem to get the theme song from green acres outta my head. I have spent the entire week either on the tractor or the mower. But I have to say, the Tan is coming along pretty good. Nothing like motor oil and hydraulic fluid in place of tanning lotion. I changed the oil on the tractor and I didn't have the filter seated right and I started it up and was driving it back to the barn and felt a warm spray on my bare leg, and when I looked down, it looked like a broken artery spewing out of the bottom of the filter all over me. Got that all squared away and spent the rest of that day brushogging. Than the next day was mowing and than I took Saturday off and hooked up with Karen for a good 350 mile day ride. Than today, it was more brushhogging. I had to lug a couple gallons of fluid out to the pasture where I had parked it and continued to make a mess and just considered it tanning lotion for the day. I spent five hours up there today and hope to finish it off between tomorrow and Tuesday. Have a great week, CG
